I am looking for almost a complete set of 4 speed parts for my 72 Skylark. The only thing I do not need regarding a complete setup is the brake and clutch pedals. So pretty much I need everything else, I am interested in either a fully restored set, partially restored or just plan old original condition. I would also be interested in buying parts seperately if need be to aquire a complete setup. Any help on this would be great guys, but keep in mind I am looking for original parts only, no reproductions. If I have to go with any reproduction parts to finish the setup off, then I will contact Dave Kleiner at that point in time. Thanks guys. :beer
I know Jason Cook(buick64203) has a complete setup he is looking to sell that are mint. Try sending him a PM. :TU:
I am not sure Jason would want to sell me his setup. Anything is possible though, miracles do happen.
SS396.com sell everything as a kit as far as the pedals to the fork then all you have to do is get a new flywheel and a scatter shield, trans and shifter.
Well chevy 4 speed parts when it comes to the shifter are not the same. I already have pedals and flywheel. So I need the shifter, linkage z bar etc... I do know the linkage is the same as chevy.
You are correct about the shifter, I recently restored a 1972 SS Chevelle and the Z bar was the same as my car it mounts the same etc. The things you have to get is the rod that goes thru the firewall, the fork, the clutch adjusting rod,and the Zbar from the Chevelle. You can buy a new Hurst Competion Plus Shifter for the Buick. Also the lock out rod is the same as well, which goes from the trans to the steering col. You can get these like I said from SS396.COM
A new Hurst Competition shifter is not the same as an original Buick shifter, and neither is a chevell shifter. They are different in their own aspects. I am looking for original Buick parts.
I took the original shifter out Of my GSX because it was too sloppy they mounted it in rubber and the rubber is rotted. I just put in a new Shifter ,the handle is shaped the same but it bolts in instead ,I do like the original shift rods the are much beefer than the replacement.
Andrew, You should try contacting Pete Serio at http://www.precisionpontiac.com and see what he might have kicking around. He rebuilt the original shifter in my car and it came out fantastic. He's great at getting back to you as well... It's worth a shot...
