I want to run transmission cooler lines through the frame. I have extra -6AN hose and fittings on the shelf but I can't find 5/16 inverted flare to 6AN adapters anywhere for the radiator. I've been browsing the net with no luck. Not even sure if such adapters exist Any tips on where I could find these or, even better, a part number would be much appreciated.
You want Earls P/N 991946 or equivilent. Jegs and Summit both stock them, but list them by thread size. Thread size for 5/16" inverted flare is 1/2" 20tpi. There is a better description HERE
Now that was well hidden. Even with the part number and thread size it took a while to find the part from Summit website Big thanks. :beer
Love the idea i did it to my car What typpe of hose are you using ? I was told to use the tfe teflon lined ss braded hose has work good for me , the only problem i saw doing mine is the lines run very close to the rt coil spring had to make up a part to keep th lines away for the spring.
I'm using Summit stainless steel braided hose. Two 45 degree hose ends on the transmission, two 90 degree ends on the radiator, the hose enters frame near the tranny and exists just next to the radiator. I was able to tug it around the spring so it "shouldn't" interfere with it but I'll double check before test drive I'm also thinking of adding piece of rubber hose or some other mcgyver'ish hack around the hose where it enters and leaves the frame to protect the braids. I got the original idea from these two threads http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=145387 http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=171112
This is how I Ran my lines . Of corse that was done a while ago I also used a thermo temp switch to run my trans cooler
Here's a thread with some good information- http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=145387&highlight=cooler+lines
I did the same and used -6 push lock hose and fittings. Alot easier to work with than the braided hose.
