Are the front upper control arms on a '69 Skylark the same left & right? Wondering if its possible to swap them & get better castor figures.
Or does it worsen the situation/

Thanks for all replies. I've looked at the parts catalogue but can't make sense of it>

    Cheers,

    Chris.

The same idea crossed my mind. I though I was crazy, but I am not the only one :D

I must take a look at it.

think u may find one is marked "L" and the other is marked "R".

I can't remember seeing the L & R stampings when I did cleaned & did the ball joints 2 years ago. Mind you I could have easily missed them.

The reason I ask is that I saw it done (accidently and 30 years ago) on a Holden. No wonder he couldn't get the castor angles anywhere near spec. Massive negative castor.
I was hoping that swaping them would be a cheap way to more positive castor.

A moot point now, since I've bought, yet to fit a set of tall upper ball joints & offset upper arm shafts.

Thanks for you replies, I given up hope of a response on the subject. So freda 155, we're both crazy:)

    Cheers,

    Chris

They are indeed stamped 'L' & 'R'. If you swapped them side to side you'd get massive positive castor. At a rough guess you'd move the upper ball joint back about 50mm/2 "

I didn't try it, but if you look at a pair you'll see what I mean. I think you'd end up with the tyre rubbing the wheel well.

    Still crazy though!
