Herb- I have over $500 currently on parts I gave away that people 'promised' to reimburse for shipping. I try and help out this community any way I can... I get screwed, consistantly.. At the same time, it takes me forever to get shipping qoutes or to send 'free' parts (which I am well aware). In my defense, and I have explained to almost everyone, I do NOT have the easiest schedule (I have worked EVERYDAY since January 13 and am scheduled as such till February 17- 24's, 12's, 8's, 4's, nights/days/evenings), plus travelling for the kids and such. My life makes getting shipping qoutes, pics, etc for "FREE" parts very tough. However, with parts that people HAVE paid for, I try and ship out the week of payment- or send BEFORE payment. Sorry for the long post... I just want to get across that I, like others, am not infallible.
I will come pick up all your parts in person so you don't have to deal with these issues anymore. My 69 is almost ready for paint.
Attention convertible owners, Are the transmission crossmember ISOLATORS for the convertible are the same as for the coupe and other cars? I have two 1969 GS coupes and one 1969 GS Stage 1 convertible that I bought from a guy in Richmond, Virginia in 1979, it has 91,000 miles on it but was missing the crossmember. The transmission was in the trunk and the Stage 1 400 engine was secured to the firewall and frame with drilled and bolted pieces made from pine wood 2x4 that we bought locally. Somehow, the car made the trip home like that on a two-wheel tow dolly. So, anyway, I was able to get a new convertible crossmember from O.P.G.I. and now I need to learn about the isolators that go on each end of it. There are rubber and polyurethane units available, are they the same for the coupe and convertible? I may have to fabricate my own out of billet polyurethane . . . . COLLIN: Great work on that convertible my friend. Awesome.
Collin- great thread- thanks for sharing your project. Car looks great! I don't know if you remember, but you bought the LH inner fender from me--did you use it on your car? Love your bodywork- wish I had that expertise- that work was beyond my little pea brain to handle. I will learn one day. Are you going to Norwalk this year? Love to see you again and chat about your project. Keep the thread going. Randy Brooks
