I recently had new shocks and springs put on my skylark. The shocks are teh KYB GR-2 and I got moog coils for the front and rear. The rear setup sits fine, but the front is alot higher than I was expecting. I purchased the springs for AC equipped cars(which mine is). How much lower would the front be sitting if I would have bought the non-ac equipped moog springs?

Before and after pics attached. I liked how it was sitting already but the suspension hadnt been touched in about 25 years, so I decided to change it out.

I've seen that so many times. Its why I quit replacing springs unless they are really bad. Some suppliers get it right but there are some that don't. On one car I bought two different pair of springs (one was Moog) that weren't right (too high)and got so disgusted I ended up putting the originals back in.

Too bad the fronts are too high and not the rears. It sucks changing the fronts.

I've heard some say they had good luck with this company but I don't have any experience with them personally.

In my experience most coil spring makers just use chev chevelle as the A body springs and the small block chev is a lot heavier. the springs may settle in time. is best to get them out of there it throws off the car handeling as well

Same thing happened with my spring replacement on the Riv. front is about 1 - 2 in. to high, there Moog also. I was going to pull them out and cut a loop off the bottom then put them back in. It was a real PITA the first time around so I am in no hurry to tackle it.

I had the same problem. I went with 1" lowering springs in the front. It now sits about 1/2" lower than stock height.

be carefull if you decide to cut them use no heat a high speed cutting wheel works and the rule of thumb is for every 1/2 coil it drops apox 1" so 1 full coil will drop it 2":eek2: and springs do settle after you drive it as well

OK, thanks for the info. So I guess the non-ac springs wouldnt make that much of a difference then. Ill wait a while and see how they settle. My friend that replaced them did say the front was a pain to do, so no need to put him through that again....just yet.

i replaced the old front springs with new ones meant for a 70 gto. price was right. i ended up removing them and using a chop saw, cut off half a coil.
wait a month to allow the springs to settle berfore u make a cutting decision.
