Yardley was looking for black seat belts for his bucket seat 69 Riv. I've got some in good shape I'm willing to send him gratis. He was really interested in the black release button on the seat belt retractors -- wanted to know if they were still there. They are. So far so good. So I looked at the retractors in my bench car -- no button, heck, not even a place for a button. QUESTION: Were the seatbelts different from bucket to bench? Or was this just a variation that may have depended on build date? I just want to know what is correct for a bucket car -- my bucket car is the one I'll be saving, and I would rather that it is correct when I'm done. If it's just a model year variation, then I don't care which I use and he can have the release-equipped units. -- Steve
Not sure I understand what your talking about. Not sure what button your talking about. Both of my Rivs have bench seats. Both cars have different belts. The 68 has spring loaded chrome retractors on the lap belts. It rolls them up when the belts are not in use. The 69 does not. Both cars have a button in the center of the latch assy. Hope this helps! Jason
Let's rephrase the question. Thanks for clarifying my lack of clarity -- writing clearly is one of the hardest tasks you can be assigned. So I'll expand a little: My question regards the seat belt retractor, i.e. the spring-loaded half of the seat belt mounted on the floor of the car next to the door opening. (The half of the seat belt that mounts to the transmission hump is not of concern.) Down on the black molded vinyl housing for the seat belt retractor, my bucket seat car has a little black knob, which is used to release the belts if they stick (?). The knob is about 1/2" diameter. No such knob on the units for my bench seat car. What's the deal? -- Steve
ahhh....that clears it up. No such knob on my retractors on either Riv. I dont think theres one on my bucket seat GS 455, but thats another animal.
