Found one on craiglist with the combo I'm looking for with coil spring set up but not sure if it will fit my Skylark. Help please.
Nope. A very different animal. The '66 thru '70 Rivieras have an X-frame, and used 3 control arms. 2 at the bottom, and one on top with a panhard rod that runs diagonally from the body to the axle. Pinion flange is different also.
No, it will not. Not even close. You need a rear from a 68-72 GM "A" body. You can use a rear from a 65-67 but its approx 1.5" shorter.
Those are the answers I was expecting even tho it broke my heart. Dang. The search continues. Thanks guys.
So what should I be looking for? What years of GM models will fit my 68 Skylark with coil springs? I'm looking for a 8.5 or possibly a 10 bolt.
Yeah, I know!:eek2: That's why I was all geeked up until my excitement was quickly extinguished by the bad news that it wouldn't fit my a body.uzzled:
10 bolts are 8.5 and 8.2...be careful and know what the differences are. Do you home work. Remember you pay 300.00 for a rear you will expect it to do 300.00 worth of work...lol. Be careful on what you think is a deal. We sell a complete rebuilt 10 bolt 8.5 with reconditioned factory GM unit for 999.00 NO core charge. That is out right. I am not saying you can not find a great deal. JUST expect some work. Jim :beer
trust me, if that thing was closer to me I'd be on my way to get it, my Riv is missing it's 3.42 rear, I have a friend that's getting one for me but having a spare is never a bad idea. That Riv rear only fits Rivs
If he wont ship it I will have my dad pick it up and bring it down to Fl for me this winter. I asked the seller for conformation on the gear ratio Via the PY stamp on the tube.
