    Pics from Today.
The entire shell and ALL the body parts are now in finish primer. :D:D:D
Now they sit for a few days and the block sanding starts. The shell has already been blocked once. Even saw a pint of the color today.

Dropped off a bunch of finished parts, and sorted/picked up the Glass I hope to use.

Guys, I hate to tell you this, but I am hoping to see this finished and at a show in mid September.
If we make it we make it, if not it will not be from lack of trying.

It's easy, Nick tells me I need something and then I start beating the bushes until I/we find it. Then we move on to the next "problem" part. My job is to find/clean up/paint all the parts and deliver them to Nick before he needs them. He told me yesterday that he needs to build another table to put everything on.:D
I am very grateful for all the contacts both Nick and I have in the Buick world.

My next job is the Glass. We will buy a new windshield, but I hate the look of the repro rear windows with the "clouds" in them, so I refused to buy one. The car originally had clear glass but Jimmy changed most of that out. Between what was on the car and what Nick had we scrounged up a set of tinted side and rear windows. I will be cleaning them up and most likely will be learning how to polish glass very soon.

I can't wait until I see something in color, and we start bolting parts on the car!

Not to hijack, but I too have seen ‘clouds’ in new glass-what is that? Sometimes wearing my sun glasses seems to accentuate it.

Is the drive-train done? In process? Waiting to drop in?

    Patrick,
I don't know what makes the "clouds" but every time I see that in my 71 GSX rear window I hate it. It might be some type of optical illusion like when you look at the intersections of a tiled floor, I don't know. The guys are telling me that on the new glass they are buying now, even the side glass is showing this a little bit in bright sunlight.

    Ray,
The Engine is out being machined right now, along with all the associated parts. The Holley 3-BBL is rebuilt. Nick will be putting the motor together.
Both the trans and rear are finished. The rear is a 355 posi 12 bolt Chevy, which is original to the car (Oshawa Canada) and has all new guts in it. The Trans has been completely rebuilt by Ed Hartnet and is ready to go.

If you are planning to have it ready for a show in September then Bowling Green in October should be a done-deal! Looking forward to seeing it in person.

I'll tell you what, I feel sorry for the 69 guys. The more I work on this car the more I learn how many parts are not reproduced.

No wonder they call themselves "The Step Child Nation".

If 69 parts are so hard to come by, I wonder how much trouble it is for Walt to find stuff for his 66 cars?

    Pat,
Yes, I had one out of a spare 69 430 motor cleaned up, and used pieces of both to put one together. I appreciate it.

I hear all you guys. I had a 66 GS Coupe years ago, but was able to gather all the pot-metal chrome pieces out of California, so I had everything I needed to do the car. I couldn't imagine trying to find that stuff today................but I will tell ya, as ragged out as it was that car would still get up and go. Especially after you power braked it and heard the switch pitch kick in. I didn't have many rides in it but they were mostly sideways. I almost took off my mailbox the one time. Ah to be young and dumb again.

Worked on some more sub-assemblies today.
Finished the Heater control assembly. I want to thank Gene Hill, Mike Schweitzer, and Nick for getting me all the pieces I needed to do this. Then did some fine painting on the dash duct faceplates and the blank Buick accessory cover plate. It's a bit of a pain to do this but the pieces turned out nice.

Today's pics. Nick has color on the roof. It will be covered up by the vinyl top, but it's still color!:D
