seen the posts on water issues with the later heads on the earlier blocks, but what the otherway around?

oiling issues? assume I'd have to oil the topend thru the pushrods and block the oil galley in the 74 to the topend.

Have the 51cc heads with the old style rockers off the 69, wanting to put them a 74 block.

    Thoughts, pics, etc appreciated

Putting early heads on a later block is no problem. I would use the oil through the pusrod method of oiling the valve train.
You would want to plug of the oil passage feeding the driver's side head, the later blocks will only have the hole on the one side, you can plug the hole at the block or the head.
You can use the 69 style rockers and oil them backwards. You can also buy a special set of hybrid pushrods that use a larger tip on one end for the early rockers. Jim Burek

No water jacket issues using early heads on a late model block, this applies to the 455 engines as well.. Jim Burek
