Thanks Jim I all ways wondered why this was, I guess if you wanted some thing really tall like a 4.10 you couldn't do it with air?

This is a stage 1 car built in Flint, not Oshawa. The GM Canada documentation is available for Buicks (and other makes I believe) and is from when the cars were imported into Canada. Seller also has the build sheet showing it is a real Stage 1.

Engine, trans and rear (and carb and distrib) are not original Stage 1 components.

Hope that clears it up for everyone.

Car was/is supposed to have a reserve on it, so its likely the seller will be ending it and relisting it.

Seller is a buick guy and i believe he had a white 70 stage 1 listed last week or so for $20K..no bids although.

I would think he may entertain or take offers under the reserve but a phone call to him would clear that up for anyone that wants to make an offer? I bought a 69 wildcat from him a few years ago. Hes a nice guy with some really nice and rare buicks he prob doesnt need the money but may want to make some room?

Then why did the auction say it was built in Canada? At least I thought that's what it said.

In fact, the auction still states "
I have the build sheet and GM Canada documentation.". So why on earth would there be GM Canada documentation for a Flint built car?
    :Do No:

OMG am I confused. I re-read your post. So after all this, people are saying no stage 1's were built in Canada, yet, this car has documentation that it was built in Canada even though it was built in Michigan. :idea2:

  7. the way i understood it was that if the car were imported to Canada as a new car then Canada would have the same documentation as a car built in Canada, therefore the information would be available.

Any GM car BUILT or PURCHASED in Canada qualifies for GM Vintage Vehicle Service reports. So, a Stage 1 built in Framingham sold in Canada could get documentation.

How can you tell? I was going to say it looked strange, the one guy bid it up $17,201 to $22,900 with no other bidders? Some one did seem to be playing games with the seller, Ebay you gotta just love it

Ok that makes sense. I wasn't even considering cars built here and shipped to Canada. I thought the documentation was only good for cars "built" in Canada.
