I thought I read somewhere that 69 GS ragtops were not offered with a trunk-mounted power antenna.

Is this true? If so -- why? Interference with the roof area, improper fit due to different shaped rear quarters?

Were they offered on earlier / later ragtops?

The 69GS400 convert was never offerd with a power antenna I installed a POWER ant on my 69 GS400 convert almost 20 yrs ago and i LOVE it took it from a 69 GS HT and modified the base to match the contour of the rear section.... Unless you are a member of this board or a Buick nut ( if you were you would be a member here ) then no one knows :TU:

I have over optioned my car with many options it never came with but are all from other 69 GS cars I have owned and most are close in build date

I even installed factory AIR form a doner 69 GS350 ( do not try this at home i am a crazy amatur )

SO do what you want after all it is your car

Sounds cool although the only downside would be having to fill the old hole on the pass fender. I finally (last week) found a NOS replacement antenna for my car. The telescoping deal on the manual antennas is a real bummer. They are hollow so they are very susceptible to breaking. My original had some kind of cheap repair sleeve covering the broken shaft at the bottom. Now I have a nice new one to worry about getting broke. :Dou:

    Todd,

You could have used a "solid" non telescoping antenna since those are easier to come by. If a car was ordered with an AM-FM it got a solid non-tele antenna and the AM radio cars got the telescoping.

As for the rear power antenna, it would be cool to have one but I could never get myself to put a hole in my back quarter

I didn't know that Mike. That's why you are the man. :TU:

I scored the nos antenna for $25 so it was a deal anyway. I have the (believed to be original) am/fm radio for my car so it would be incorrect for my car. Oh well, I really need to drop the tank and try the last spot for the build sheet. Maybe I'll get around to it this winter.

Well, I gotta get the car painted at some point in the future anyway, since the wife put a little ding in the rear for me.

The hole in the fender really wouldn't be that big an issue. The lower portion of the fender is bent in a little bit -- not dented, but it just follows a different curve than the driver's side, which meets the bumper better. So that fender may have to come off anyway to be re-worked.

Ken, you got a picture of your installation? Got the correct measurements for where it should be on a non-ragtop?

I think I have the correct manual at home, too. I'll have to check this weekend. Still, aphoto would be nice to understand what you did to the antenna boss.
