Steve , you can buy those brand new. I have a new set here i could sell you discounted , these just don't have the stainless trim. You can polish yours up as much as you like and pop them on. Also have nicely used, brackets ect. if you prefer that route. DL
Didn't know if they were reproduced. I can certainly go that route. One of my lens has a chip; one piece of stainless has a dent. So if someone has an assembly with nice stainless and a bad lens, I'll do that.
I believe the reproductions do not have any of the writing on the lens, but they sure are nice. I think I used a pair of NOS ones for the car, but they tend to be a little expensive because they were also used on the Corvettes. It all depends on how far you are taking the car. Duane
wait wait wait. I'm confused. You said you used NOS ones on "the car", which i assume means the motion car. Then you say "depends on how far you want to take the car". if we are talking the same car, I'd like to take it to florida. Where do I send the check?
this aint ever gonna be a concourse car, but dang it, I want it right. Gotta have the writing on the lenses.
Yes, No writing and I think the Lens look more bubbled but that could be me. Last set I seen on e-bay went for $125.00 with a Buy/Now so yes, they are a little pricey.
2manybuicks Yes it was the motion car. Jimmy bought them 20+ years ago when they were still available so they cost nothing. Not so today. Do you really want to write a check? I am planning to get some gas later today and taking it for a ride. After I see how fun it is the price might get higher. Duane PS. Reproducing lenses without any dot codes etc. is an old thing. They have been doing it for over 30 years on Ford lenses. You don't have to pay any royalties, so it's much cheaper to make. We have never considered this type of thing with judging, at least till now, but it is a BIG DEAL with the Ford guys.
I bought the more expensive ones from oldbuickparts. They have all the markings and the stainless trim. Very good reproductions.
I may have 1 or 2 with the writing on them. You mean the "SAE" writing right? If you're still looking that is.....
