I have the Poston GS114 cam with their heavy duty roller rockers, springs, and hi-rev lifters already in. I'll take the advice to just open up the intake to match the spacer. Hoping to finish up spraying the paint this weekend. Then next week I will do some assembly to get the car back together and it will be turbo time.

Question on the fuel system. I have a single 100 micron filter that I was going to put before the fuel pump, should I also run a 30 or 40 micron filter after the pump?

The Poston 114 is actually a great off the shelf turbo cam. It is what I run. I wouldn't bother with a post filter. Most carbs can handle SOME debris. It is the big crud you need to keep out. 100 micron will handle that.

I agree on the 114 cam, I am going to use the same 114 cam until I go to a roller cam down the road.

I just finished the paint yesterday. After 3 months, 3 different paints, 3 different guns and almost a dozen attempts, I finally got it how I wanted. Here are a few pics of the hood and fenders. I didn't have a chance to get the body out in the sun today to take a pic. I will get one tomorrow as long as the rain holds off. Going to do some assembly through the week and weekend and then it will be time to get the turbos on! It's been a lot of hard work to get to this point, but a good learning experience.

I am really happy with the way the paint turned out. The color looks amazing in the sun. The metal flake really pops in the sun and the clear makes it look deep and wet.

Not really. Been working on getting the interior together and building a center console for the car. Wasted a bunch of time this weekend fixing a bad plumbers fix on my water line. He decided to chop through the sprinkler system with his little back hoe and then just bury all the broken pipes. I had a nice geyser in my front yard when I went to test it out for the first time this spring. Not everyone takes pride in their work unfortunately.

Finally back to working on the car. Had a bit of a mishap with testing to see how far I could bend my ankle.....It's hard to move around in the garage with a walking boot, but it is finally gone and work is progressing....

Opened up the intake for the adapter. I decided to leave the center divider in. I also opened up the spacer to match and left the divider in that. A few sawzall blades and a lot of hours of cutting and grinding. I used JB weld to fill in the divider and then sanded it flush.

Also got the turbos bolted up. I must admit...I wasn't sure if the manifolds were going to fit, but they do.

Why did I paint the engine blue instead of Buick Red??? I just liked the blue color.

Also started on the downpipes. Using 3" pipe. Here is the passenger side pipe. The drivers side is going to be tight. Will finish that tomorrow.

Tomorrow's plan is to finish the downpipes and run the fuel lines. A few questions....

What did others use for the supply and return lines for the oil system?

Do you use any sealing (teflon tape, paste) on the fuel fittings? I am using aluminum -8AN fittings for most of it.

I use Permatex high temp thread Thread Sealant, I used to use the teflon tape till I had some clog up my carb and cause an issue.

Here are pics of What Jay did... Oversized drain lines but it works:

I decided to use the idea that bigger is better like Jay.... I had some extra 3" mandrel bend exhaust from the downpipes I am using for my oil return. Anyone know of a 3" to 5/8" reducer?

    Real question.....

I am trying to figure out a good spot for the aeromotive fuel pump. Does it need to be at a certain height in relation to the tank? How about how close inline should it be to the pick up? I was thinking of putting it in the frame just in front of the rear tires, but wasn't sure if this was too far away from the pick up or not.

LOL, I almost passed out when I read your first post LOL!!

From what I know: The A1000 pump (same as what I am using) is good to supply up to 1200 HP using a carb although keep in mind that you will need both large feed and return lines or else it will not work right. As far as I can tell these pumps are meant to be "pushers" and not "pullers" so you need to have a "head" of pressure at the pump which will keep them supplied with fuel at all times. I am adding a sump like this.
