Thanks for the quick response. There is a DOA lookin car I just left a note on...:beer Did 69 offer a 455 or was 70 the first year for it in a Lesabre? Frank
The 455 didn't come out until '70 in any model Buick. '69 had the slightly smaller 430. Same external appearance.
Doug, Technically there wasn't a 455 in 69 but I know where there is one that was factoryuzzled: Ok its in a 9/69 built 70 GS 455 that Kevin Brungard has.  Pat
My convertible in my avatar was assembled last week of 10/69. My air cleaner came with a chrome lid on it (at least the original owner swears it dido No: ) and still has the original 10 8 69 stamp in a turquois color plainly visible (pic below). Dash has the pointy lenses and all!:TU: At some point in it's history the original plastic radiator top cover has been replaced with a later metal one.o No: It still has three of it's original T-3 headlights too.
The next year starts Aug 1. So it is possible to have a 455 made in '69 but it's actually a '70. I've got a 8/69 455 in the garage that came out of a '70 Electra.
the 1970 455 is the best of the BBB's (factory power spec wise) so i'd snap that up if i were you. due to the advent of enviro rules in 71 (for gm) compressions dropped from 10 or 10.5 / 1 in 1970 to 8.5 / 1 in 1971. this means that ANY of the 67-69 430s have better hp / tq numbers than the 71-76 455's. be sure to get an 'oversize' oil pickup for that motor though. it's probably got the 1/2" tube as the 5/8" wasn't available until the 71 model year. best option would be to put the pistons and heads on a 75 or 76 block.
