I need help figuring out where I can get the rubber bump stops for the lower control arms off the front end of my '68 Buick Riv. I hadn't planned on replacing them, but one of the lower ones was just about broken off, so I need a set of lowers for sure. The local NAPA had some for a '71 Riv, but they attach w/ a bolt, while mine just pull a smaller wedge of rubber through a slot in the control arm. I've found the uppers listed in a couple places, but finding the lowers is like trying to mow the lawn with a bulldozer... Any great ideas/sources out there? Thanks!
I found some from an aftermarket supplier of suspension components. Energy Suspension, or something like that. They aren't as long as ours, and I had to trim them to fit, but they worked.
found acceptable replacement Hi Yardley! Thanks for the info. I found some from Energy Suspension that I think will work too, thought they're totally different. They're 2" round stops, slightly shorter than the stock ones, w/ a bolt stud out the bottom. I'll just put the control arm on a drill press to widen the slot slightly at the point that I want to bolt the replacement through, after I've decided where on the slot the new round stop will sit best in order to clear the spring seat & the strut bar. Thanks!
The ones I found pulled through the control arm just like the originals, but they were too long, so I just had to trim them.
super I think I saw some on their website that were the right shape, but i couldn't tell the dimensions. Napa had some that were the same shape & concept as my originals, but were slightly oversized & wouldn't cram through the slot -- I was afraid of mail-ordering the ones from Energy w/ the same result, so I just got the ones I knew would work. Thanks!
