Would anyone have some good used 21" door panel chrome plates (that fit between the armrests and panels)? I have my old ones, but one had been cracked and is missing a chunk from the elbow rest side of the plate.

Also, would anyone know of someone I could send my '68 $10-off-eBay clock to get working again. I used liquid wrench to loosen everything up, to the point where I can now tap the second gear, and without touching, will move the "point" arm all the way from fully open to fully closed. The points look bad as well. For the test, I just used two wires, connected the positive wire from my car battery to the stud on the back of the clock, and with the negative wire, connected/taped that one to metal housing (after re-assembled).

I believe the innards of this clock and my '67 Cougar are practically the same, with the exception of maybe the metal housing.

I'm still waiting on possibly a few from this forum to send me pics and prices for a good clock, so please send to ewojcieszak@yahoo.com when you can. Thanks, Eric.

Try cleaning the points to remove any oxidation or pitting and retest with a 12 vDC source. Sometimes the Borg clocks have dirty contact points that will bond together and burn out the small wire from the rewind solenoid which renders the clock useless.
The July/Aug. issue of the ROA Riview has a 3 page article on servicing the Borg clocks. :TU:

    Another Q

Is the small wire from the solenoid visible inside the tiny box that has the green wire spool wrapped around a tube--from the top? I'll try to capture some pics tonight.

    Another point

When I removed the casing, I noticed the gap between the points was almost at the maximum. Would it be a valid assumption that at the time it was removed, it was working?

Further inquiry into '68 Skylark clock

Is anyone in this forum able to repair my clock? As a fallback, would anyone have a working '68 Skylark clock they'd be willing to sell me? Please let me know. Thanks, Eric (ewojcieszak@yahoo.com).

Hello Eric. It`s John in Ontario Canada. I allready sent you pics of a working 68 clock and I haven`t heard back. Since you allready have a clock the best thing to do is to put a quartz movement(guts) inside and get it over with. I did it with my 65 clock. It`s probably not much more than buying another regular working one that is prone to break down. Are you mechanically inclined at all? You can purchase a quartz conversion kit from Instruments services Inc. in Illinois. It`s about 50 bucks or you can send them your clock but it will be more cash. If you choose to do it yourself they will send directions and a vidio tape if necessary. It`s a good kit. I have done it twice on 2 different clocks and was pleased. I have their phone #: 800 558 2674 or 815 623 2993. Keep in touch. mrbuick65@sentex.net.
    Thanks, John
