68 Riviera front disc brakes on a 66?

Can anyone tell me if the Front Disc Brakes from a 68 Riviera are a bolt on swap to a 66 Riviera? I found a 68 at the local Pick-N-pull with all the front disc brakes intact but I think I read someplace that Buick made a change in the front suspension from 66-67 to the 68 models but never found out what was changed? If I would need the spindles off the 68 along with the brakes I could get them to if it was required to complete the change over? Any help would be appreciated. Darrell dvbenner@yahoo.com

make sure the rotors are useable before you go any further. If they're not, there are no replacements out there. Unless you want to give me a grand for a new set.

Oh and welcome to V8Buick:beers2:. I didn't notice this was your first post.

Also, unless you get the caliper bores resleeved with brass or stainless they will leak or suck air making you think you have a bad master cylinder. 4 piston calipers have superior braking over the single piston sliding calipers, but they do have there drawbacks. I'm always looking for extras for my wildcat if you end up not going for them.

Welcome to the board from Florida. I too have been thinking about going 4 wheel disk on my Riv. I know theres aftermarket conversions out there which would have better parts and available replacement parts.

Thanks for the Reply's. As a life long Racer I Love those 4 piston Calipers but as people say I was unable to find any new Rotors from at any Reasonable Cost. I figure they did away with the 4 Piston calipers because some Bean Counter found out they cost to much. I just bought my 1966 Riviera and have Ideas for things I want to do to make it better. Seems some things are available from the Aftermarket but it will never be supported like common GM cars But you don't see them every time you turn around and I love the Lines of them so I'll be around........ riviera 7-28-2013003.jpg Anyone install a Vintage Air conversion in a 66-71 Riviera? There is not much room behind the dash but I need to make more room in the Engine Compartment for a Bigger Engine.

I wanted to say Hi to all the Buick people out there. I have come Back to owning a Buick after 47 Years as that's when I sold My First Buick when called to Active Duty for Vietnam. My 1962 Buick Special bought New as a factory special order with 4-speed,Posi. 4.30 Gears and and AM radio and heater. I sold it to my Brother and lost track of it when he sold it to buy a family car. Sure wish I had been able to keep it all these years. I still have dreams about walking into my garage to find it There just like I left it in 1965! I hope it's still on the Road making someone Happy Darrell
