i heard the die for the repro 1/4's was broke :Do No: so as of right now they are not making any more  i had a post in the bench inquiring about this and nobody else knew anything. :Dou:

Yeah, be careful of repro quarters. 68 & 69 are not identical, due to the side marker lights being different shapes. The only currently made repros I know of are 69 style, with the rectangular cut-outs.

I've never seen NOS '68 convertible quarter panels since I became involved in the GS hobby around 1981. I would have to say they would be almost unobtainable. As David said the reproductions have the rectangular '69 marker lights stamped into the quarter. That in itself is no big deal. If you could find a rust free 1968 donor car with excellent original quarter panels that would be the neat way to appoach things. It would probably be an expensive solution though. My Year One catalog doesn't show '68/'69 quarter panels. My Original Parts Group catalog does. They are @ 1-800-243-8355. Part numbers listed: S210026 and S210027 respectively for the left and right sides. The price is listed as $229.95 EACH. My catalog is dated 2003. The panels must be shipped by truck according to them and I think that can be almost as much as the quarters themselves.

I am considering parting out a '69 GS hardtop right now. If you want the quarters off of it you can have them for $150.00 plus shipping. They are the reproductions and the right one is screwed on while the left has been welded at the top and has some warping to it at the fenderwell area. Do you need front fenders or the radiator support and right front fenderwell? This car came with some beauties!
Here is the car. Pumpkin is a '69 GS350 hardtop and was originally special paint code Q GS fireglow.

Pumpkin's reproduction quarters have been sitting around awhile. They do have some light surface rust from sitting around. I have the car in the garage as did the guy I bought it off of. I am located in the Cincinnati area.

Pumpkin - 69 GS Parts Car

    Brian Albrecht,
Please send me your phone number and email address.
I would be interested in your car whole or parts...
I have a 68 GS400 and need rear quarters, core support, front inner wheel well, maybe doors, and maybe fenders.
    Thanks,
    Gil

Thanks for your replies everyone. I have a pair of 1/4's from the parts group but they are for the 69 marker lights not 68. So I need to come up with a way to form the round ones, any tricks to doing this?

    Jim,
I suppose you already have '69 repros then? Gill is interested in the quarters I have so please let me know.
    Thanks

    To JimBuick,
I also have a 68 GS400 convertible. I have not been able to find any 'full' NOS, repro, or good used rear quarters for a 68. My 68 currently has one 69 quarter. Whoever did it before patched the retangular marker and cut the round marker. That's what I figured I would do with 69 quarters also.
Just thought I would let you know, as noone else has responded to your request of 'how' to use 69 quarters for your 68.
    Good Luck!

    Hello Gil,

I did get your email and responded. Then a second email came about the rearend and I again responded. Perhaps my email is on the blink? I don't know. Since it appears we can't communicate very well with the email I try it again and cross my fingers this time. The pumpkin is not for sale in a complete fashion. Several weeks ago I sold the engine and trans locally and the guy came back on Sunday and bought the front fenders. The quarters are yours if you want them. The rearend is open and not worth anything to speak of. The doors are very straight but have some rust [both have a hole-the left has one in the front and the right has one in the rear - $50 for the gutted pair if you want them.] The frame is available too and I am going to place an ad on the for sale section. I'll try emailing you the door pictures Gil.

    Thanks!

It would be great to sell it to someone that needed all that. I didn't think anyone could use it like that but :Do No: It really makes sense since the left quarter is already "on there". We can work out details if Gil passes on the quarters. If he does want the quarters might you still be interested in the shell on the frame? It wouldn't cost much extra. I'll need something for the new body cushions in it. There is some rust on the floors but the trunk floor looks good as do the window channels {I've seen a lot worse}. There are other things I could offer you to go with it at extra cost [trim, doors, trunk lid, hood, etc.] and a few things I've got to hang onto like the front suspension, boxed rear control arms and sway bar, and the steering column with sport wheel.

Thanks Mark...and I did email you in response to the PM.

Also, one thing I've learned with OPG or Year One for that matter; If they have it in their catalog, it doesn't necessarily mean they "have" it. They can have it in their book and the item can be on national back order. In other words, you may never get the part.

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Just because We've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.....I bought a NOS left side quarter (and front &, rear door skins) for my SPORTWAGON years ago at the Nats - Neeeevvvveeer thought I'd see one of those

.....but I wouldn't hold my breath. About the only way to do '68 quarters is to cut the side marker area from your 68 quarters with enough extra that a GOOD fabricator can patch it in while hanging the quarters too

    Brian,
Since Mark can use the frame and shell complete... I will graciously PASS on the quarters. Perhaps one good deed will provide an opportunity for another.

    Mark,
If you could part with a decent radiator core support, I could really use on.
Also, if anyone comes across decent 68 quarters, I still need them.
    Let me know.

    Thanks and good luck guys!

Gil-the radiator support and rt front fenderwell on this car are Arizona pieces and very, very nice. I have given an old friend in FL first shot. Should he pass you are next in line. Thanks for possibly helping out a couple of fellow V*8 dudes by stepping out! :beer
