I removed 2 screws on the top of the cluster and 4 nuts on the backside but the top still feels attached. Looking for advice. ED K

I assume you have the dash pad off and the screws behind it removed. Also the plastic panel under the steering column hides two more screws. Now the cluster should be free, but will only wiggle. The heater/AC controls need to be separated from the cluster-two nuts from the back. And the speedometer cable needs to be released--push clip where it goes into the cluster.

AS this is what Ive been working on, also the wiring harness holds it tight too. Just take your time and be carefull that dash bezal is fragile!!!

I did not know that the dashpad needed to be removed. I thought the two scres from the front held that on and i could find no more nuts on the back side. All i am trying to do is find the wires from the gas gauge to see if the gauge itself will work. Anybody know what colors those wires are supposed to be? ED
