This has to be a record price for a 68 GS400 Convertible. 77K. What was special about this particular GS? Most others sold in the 20K range. Nice car but I can find a few nit-pick things that keep it from being perfect. (mine is nowhere near perfect either) One of 2,454 produced in 1968 400/340 HP V-8 engine Holley 4-barrel Carburetor 3-speed automatic transmission 10 bolt rear axle Power steering Power brakes Factory air conditioning Finished in original Regal Black New correct White vinyl bucket seat interior Restored dash and instruments AM/FM stereo radio Power windows Power top Body chrome and bumpers have been redone or new Replacement convertible top with glass rear window Dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers Correct chrome Rally wheels with Redline tires Engine compartment and chassis are highly detailed Original paperwork includes build sheets, owner's manual, 1968 Buick color brochure, facts sheet and owner's protection plan with Protect-O-Plate
I checked it out and it was nice, presented very well and great colors and is loaded. It was a no sale on BAT last year with a high bid of 37k, which in my opinion was pretty close to all the money, especially for a column shift car. My old 68 was a no sale at 20K, indeed was not as nice as this car, however 20K - 77k is a pretty wide margin. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1968-buick-gs400-7/#comments-anchor
Efog, yours looked better when you were selling it, I think. I don’t remember the grill being all black snd it was cleaner and tidier then, right? Patrick
Car has the look,..that's what sold it imo,..or two nagging ass wives who wouldn't shut up about it and it became a battle of the wills
Thanks Patrick, I'd like to think I had it pretty presentable for what it was, an original driver, it looks like the last few years it has declined a bit, some noticeable nicks, and yes the grill was painted flat black. None the less I took a shot at buying it back, (nostalgia), but it already sold through the Bid Goes On office, oh well.
Nice Money ! Guess I will just finish what I have. I wont be able to play in that sand box for very long. I guess folks forget these were $3,000 to $4,000 cars when brand new. Price of parts and Chrome just went up again.
very nice car. is it a factory black car? usually there red. i would love to have it but its a little rich for me. johnny
The Brothers collection has 69-72 Stage1 converts in Black, wonder if it went to Oregon. Be right at home.
