    2=?
    05A = Build date-first week of may
    0758 = I think this is a "job sequence number" used at the factory
    ST 68 = 1968
    44637 = 2 dr. hardtop GS400
    BW00847 = Fisher Body Number, Wilmington, Del. plant.
    TR 178 = Black vinyl bucket seats
    C82B8 P2=?

    Have you found any build sheets for your car yet? I have a Wilmington built GS400 Convertible and I found two build sheets in mine, one behind the passenger side bucket seat and one in the rear (top) seat springs.

    I did find the build sheet, it was behind the top of the rear seat. that is basically as far as i got with the tag as well. Did all of the 68's have black vinyl tops??

    Oh yes, "P2" :Dou: Don't know how I missed that :Dou:

    Tarpon Green = 490 GS400 Coupes built (52 of them at the Wilmington plant)
    Black vinyl top = 4752 GS400 coupes out of 10743 GS400 Coupes were built with that top.

    Is there a number "0758" in the top left corner of your build sheet in box 1 or 2? Just curious because my Wilmington car has a "0005" on my build sheet and cowl tag.

    C82B8 P2 THis is what has me confused
    P2 is the sales code for carpet savers but P2 would also be Tarpon green with a black vinyl top :Do No:

    I would have to see a photo of the actual cowl tag to help clear things up.

    I agree with you Mike. It would be nice to see a pic of ther tag. Since no other code appears for paint I would say you are likely on the money.

    Says "P2 Paint" and "TR 178" so Mike is right on.

    Cowl Tag

    C8= boxed frame
    B8 = spdo cable (in box #74 on the sheet.)

    These last two are just opinions and you should get others

    I see your car has "88-89" in box 92, that means you got the wheels with the chrome plated centers and trim rings instead of the all chrome plated wheel. This is sort of a mystery wheel because it is a '68 only style ('69 wheels were painted in the center and were called Super Sport wheels). I have the same wheels on my Wilmington built GS). There was not an option code for this wheel and it was substituted for the "P05" all chome wheel for some reason, mostly on convertibles it seems (I know your is a coupe).

    Your car was near the end of the run for Wilmington, the last car (V8)assembled there had a VIN of 8Y187787, only 15,398 more V8 cars from that plant that year after they built yours :rolleyes:

    Thanks for checking on the "0758", mine has a 0005 on both the cowl tag and the build sheet.
