    Hi All,

I just drove to MS and back to get my car, definitely worth the long trip.

So I was driving around this weekend, and decided that an upgrade to the sound system is in order. However, the factory AM/FM unit is pristine, and I do not want to have a modern unit in the dash, or even the ones that look sort of like an old unit. I will install a hidden system from Secret Audio.

I am wondering where the speakers are located on the car. I thought they were in the center of the dash, but it sounds like they are somewhere on the sides. Are they in the kickpanels? The PO said that there are only two speakers, so I am at a loss.

Also, did some of these cars have rear speakers? I do not want to cut into the rear if possible, but if anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears!

    Thanks,

    Michael G

    Michael,

I have a 69 convertible, not sure if it is the same or not. 1 Speaker is in the center of the dash, one is behind the rear seat, on the Passenger side IIRC. Look at the back of the seat frame from inside the trunk and you should see it.

It may have speakers in the kick panel, but I would think they would be aftermarket though. If your car does not have AC, then kick panel speaker installation is a real PITA. Easier if you have AC.

You should email LCAC_Man (I think that is right), he (Len) did a real nice job on the stereo in his 68 convertible. Had me drooling........

    Hi Chris,

Yes indeed, that's my baby! The pics don't do it justice. The gent that I bought her from did a truly excellent job. She rides great, and hauls down the road. However, since we are jsut getting aquainted, I am not really pushing her too far.

The fan blower has a short, so she's a cold rod right now, but I am going to have her gone over too make sure that all is as it should be.

Thanks for all your help. Is there a way to check for members contact info on this site? Sorry if its an obvious answer, I have not really looked around enough here.

    Thanks again,

    Michael Gershon

    Michael,

Not sure what you mean by contact info. If you click on a user's id in their post (i.e., "cjp69") a little drop down menu will appear that will allow you to view their profile, send them an email or private mail, etc. Is that what you were looking for?

I really like the 69 hood on the 68 as well. I always thought the hood was a "weak link" on the 68. :TU:

    Hey Chris,

I found it! Thanks for the follow-up.

I also like the '69 hood - to me it is the epitome of 60's muscle.

    Thanks again,

    Michael Gershon
