Transmission crossmember, for 68-72 Skylark/GS. I just had it blasted & powder-coated the correct GM Black. It has some light pitting on each end,but overall, very nice. Price is $175.00 shipped anywhere in the US 48.

This looks different than mine. Are convertible x-members different? Mine looks the same as all my other hard tops and is narrower at the ends.

This bolts directly to the frame, without the rubber insulators.

I know when I did the small block switch I found people saying I needed a big block member to find out they are longer than a convert but my 4 speed bolted on nice to the 350 member

Here are a few more pictures. One showing it fitting the frame. The other is a length comparison with a TH400 hardtop crossmember.

Wow, didn't know there were that many different. My 72 convertible 350 came with a 3 speed manual on the column, swapped to a Muncie M20 and used the same x-member. Mine looks exactly like Dallas has pictures above. Does it make a difference is i was using a TH400 or swapped to a 455?( Sorry was thinking of someday upgrading to a 455 which is why I am asking all the questions)
    Thanks

The manual transmission has the crossmember in the same hole-location as the TH350. What did a GS 350 4-spd have for a crossmember, compared to a GS 455 4-spd? I would think the same, but I haven’t owned both to confirm that.
Maybe Kerry will chime in. He has an original 70 GS 350 4-spd.

I have a original GS 350-4 spd car. I can't see the shape of the ends of the crossmember. But I can verify that it has the rubber insulators on each end if that helps. Good luck with your sale.

Every GS convertible I have uses rubber insulation at the ends even 67 .This maybe skylark item?

68/72 buick crossmembers all used the rubber isolators and clamps

None bolted straight to the frame

Th400 Xmember had an oval hole for the parking brake cable to pass thru on driver side

Th350 Xmember did not otherwise the same part, different part #s but the hole is why

Obviously all 68/72 Abody Xmembers will work but,...

Didn't olds and chevy use the bolt on cross member? Every one that I've removed from a Buick always had the rubber insulators.

This is the style that I use, unless I use something like the G-force piece.
Yes,Oldsmobile had them under their convertibles and Vista Cruisers. I think Chevy and ElCamino were different.

All mine , big block cars, small block cars, and a 70 skylark custom convertible all had rubber end cross members. Maybe someone did a swap and changed it along with the cross member. Only differences i see is the hole for emegency brake cable. Other than that very nice piece.

I bet it really stiffens up the car. Trick what would i need to do ? Drill frame holes? I bet it would help my 4 speed from twisting.

No modifications needed. It bolts directly to the frame, with the existing holes.
