I know someone out there knows the answer too this curious question, I have seen several 69 Rivieras for sale recently that have the 68 Riviera egg crate grill. Was this due to the month the car was produced. Like maybe late 68 for 69 cars?
    Thanks,

I would think the grills were replaced along the way due to damage and or not being able to find the correct parts. Personally I prefer the 68 over the 69 grill but like the tail light bezels of the 69 over the 68's Id purchase another 68 grill in good condition if I found one for the right price just to have it. Same goes for 69 bezels in perfect condition.

x2, . . . sometimes you just can't find a correct replacement, and since they are interchangeable you go with what you can find.
I also prefer the '68 'egg crate style' grill, and '68 tail lamp bezels which are also interchangeable '68-'69, or vice versa.
The '69 bar type bezels were released prior to the end of the '68 year production run, so you will see both types on '68 models.
All '69s should have the 'bar' type bezels, and the '69 grill. :TU:
