Ok i haven't seen any documentation but i was wondering if they made GS California Convertibles? It's a question i've been meaning to ask and am very curious to know. There is a 68' GS 400 Cali for sale here where i'm at but theres no contact info. I was under the impression GS California models came with a posi, bigger brakes, better suspension and was a post car but convertibles don't have posts so if anyone knows and can send some production info it would be great! :3gears:
The Cali's were base models (same model # as the Special-43327), but had some GS dressup items. In 68 the only A-body convertibles had to be a GS400 or Skylark Custom, iirc. Posi was always only an option. Bigger brakes, I don't think so. Yes, they were post cars.
Thin pillar coupe will never equal convertible. I have a California GS. They were a pretty limited option kind of thing. I have never seen one with the real chrome rallye wheels, for instance; they all seem to have the painted ones with trim rings. This is not a definitive definition. But a thin pillar coupe is part of the definition of the California, and you can't...really...make a convertible of it. If you have a convertible now, that's more rare.
Shhheck it out... While were at it guess how much it's goin' for??? LISTING DETAILS: 1968 Buick 400 Gs California Convertible One Owner In storage for 18 yrs. All chrome molding all numbers match, engine, trans, rear end. 400 Big Block 400 Turbo Trans 411 posi Rear End have Black Plates.
Also does anybody have some more info on these Cali GS models? Production #'s, package details, standards and options for these things. Justa doin' my research... :Comp:
Finally got ahold of the dude he said it's just a 68' GS 400 Convertible i guess they dont make em'! :ball:
Just?? A 68 GS400 'vert is much more in demand than a GS Cali. and worth more too. Many don't think of the Cali's as real "GS" models, since they did not get a GS model VIN.
