As things stand, there are no nos nor correct 400-4 or 430-4 repop decals available. I had to replace a damaged repop 400-4 decal on Birdie recently. Whatever I used was going to be incorrect.I replaced the damaged (incorrect) 400-4 borderless decal with a white line bordered decal (also incorrect). Having one of each incorrect decal installed, I was able to make a subjective cosmetic comparison value judgment: the white line bordered decal looked better. It"popped". Not so the borderless decal. Would be nice to have the real deal, but until then....
Just found this thread as I was eyeballing my valve covers today, they are seeping some oil from the rear, and I was thinking i need to pull them and regasket, and "while I was there"™ I was thinking about cleaning painting the valve covers. I still have the sad looking original 350-4 1968 sticker on it. I guess there is no happy outcome to my search for good looking correct valve cover stickers... This seems like a relatively easy item to make, so strange that it isn't... Mike Trom, if you are still here, can you share the CAD file? It might be helpful? Seems like the embossing die could even be hand made... It won't be a high volume/speed item? I have friends at Pratt Fine Arts here that make all kind of embossed/etched/cast items, so I think I may run this by them as well...
Got a notification email for this thread. The CAD file I have is from AutoCAD light 2000. It is basically a dimensional drawing file. It is for "400" and "430" decals (text). Not sure how much that will help you. Your best bet might be to use your original as a starting template. Plenty of repro 400 and 430 out there but none with the embossing.
If you still have the files and don't mind sharing, I would look at them? I have access to some CAD platforms the might import it... I can PM you my e-mail address if you want to share. I have a 400 car also ;~)
