what would it be.. just on a stock skylark convertible with a standard 300 engine..
not that I want to go particularly fast just curious.
Fastest I have been is about 70 but wondered how much more I should/could or shouldnt push it...

I have another car to go fast in so I dont really care about speed or cornering.. I just like to cruise!

Embarassing to admit.... but I barried the speedo at 120 in my 67 (300V8 - 2 spd) when I was in highschool for about 15 minutes coming home from a neighboring town. Thats waaaaay too fast to be driving a stock suspension car and I'd never do it again.

I'd say 120 tops depending what gear you have in the rearend.

well thats pretty impressive.. certainly faster than I imagined.. I have a TH350 transmission in mine now... any ideas on 0-60's?? Just in case someone wants to take me at the lights.. I imagine something around 15 seconds....

The 67 I just sold was a bone stock 300 - 2 spd, and I only took it to the track once on a "Buick day" (it's not a race car).
It ran a 17.33 at somewhere around 75-80 MPH
Not sure if thats "up to par" with what a stock 300 should run, but thats what it run.
    :Do No:
It was just shifting into 2nd gear about 50 feet before the finish line. Thats a long time in 1st gear!

I wouldn't advise going over 80 in a car that has not undergone a complete suspension rebuild. It might do it once....

not sure about the 300, but my 46K mile, great running '69 Sky with (low compression) 350-2/th350 went 16.4x consistantly until I went up against Greg "The Snake" Gessler who tree'd me with a .504 light :ball:

I ran my number and would have beat him but just couldn't make up for my little nap on the starting line  :Dou:
