Guys took the 67 skylark for a cruise this weekend driving along and it will make a humming noise comes and goes gets loud at times hard to explain the sound but it sounds like a hollow humming sound under the car, could it be my break drums or maybe a bearing need help in a diagnostic. your input would be greatly appreciated. would a wheel drum that is getting hot cause this I have 4 wheel drum brakes. also there is a squeak from the left rear wheel that comes and goes.

    Thanks

    Randy

Soon, real pros will chime in. I'd check for rear wheel bearings. Lift rear wheels from the ground and see if there is play (up/down).

Does the noise change when you corner left or right? By giving the bearings a lateral loading you can sometimes narrow the source down.

It will do it when I am driving straight down the road.

Could be the rear gears. Check the lube? When you remove the filler bolt, it should dribble out if the level is right.

Front wheel bearings are easy to check, I'd be pulling & inspecting them. How long is it since they were last repacked?
If you don't find anything, at least you've eliminated them as the culprit.

I think you are right, last night went for a cruise to see if I could hear more, when I was making a sharp left turn the right wheel felt loose and seemed to skip a beat if that makes sense.

It seemed like something was loose.,

    Thanks for all your help

I would check thoroughly and rather soon.
You don't really want to loose a wheel while driving.
I had my rear axle come out because of a bad bearing, that is no fun!
