Going to install a Magnaflow stainless exhaust this week, but they don't come with the down pipes. Does anyone make replacements for them? I don't want to reuse the old, aluminized ones that are on there. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you bought a "header back" system. Will Magnaflow exchange it for a full system?

I put the Magnaflow system on my '66 GS and just used the extra tailpipe tubing to make the downpipes....
I used the straight tailpipes with the downturned tips, so the 45 degree tailpipes were avail to use for the downpipes... don't know if that will work for the 340 tho.
My 401 exhaust manifold outlets only have a 2" outlet. I took the original exhaust pipe flange, ground out the ID so it would fit over the 2.5" Magnaflow pipe, then carefully flared the end to mate with the manifold. there was enough contact to make a decent seal.
If that won't work for your 340, just use some aluminized tubing for the downpipes to mate to the MF exhaust, it's not a big deal. You can even weld stainless pipe to steel.

Another tip.... for the over-the-axle-pieces, I cut a few inches off of the ends to make it fit closer to the frame rails. You may not need to, but keep it in mind.

BTW, where did you buy the system?

My first thought was to use the extra stainless pipes supplied with the kit to make downpipes. Might be my best bet in this situation. Hard or next to impossible to find a "full" kit that includes the down pipes. This is a real nice Magnaflow kit with every pipe you'd ever need to have a damn nice system. Got it at 1/2 of retail, so snagged it up REAL quick. I know a good exhaust guy, bet he could bend the extra pipes to the right angle and flare them for the fit to the manifolds...

Magnaflow lists a downpipe kit for 68-72 Skylarks, Don't know if they would work on 67, but they have the flanges and are stainless. T/A performance lists downpipes also, doesn't say what they are made of though.
