John, put it this way it's like when you're feeling frisky picking up a random girl for a one nighter seems like a good idea NOW but later down the road when you got herpes or paying child support forever you're kicking yourself in the azz for your rushed spontaneous not well thought out decision you made. How many of us regret the one they let go... we see it all the time on the forum. I’ve followed along on your threads and know how invested you are with the riv. I agree with saving up for your boosted “quick” fix and finding a way to keep your sweet riv

I thought you already did buy the converter?? I suggested it to you back on page 20somethingwhatever of this thread. It's a "must have" for big cars as far as I'm concerned, it wakes the sleeping beasts up for sure!
Yeh I ordered it from JW last year when I did the trans rebuild, it's awesome! One of the best things I did to the Riv it really woke it up. Another good upgrade especially since you race your car is a big car 808 quick ratio steering box from Tom T (Teleriv) it definitely helps with control of the big boats we drive. I just put a box from Tom and an addco front sway bar on my Riv, she's nice and tight now. I'm waiting for Tom to get back to me on a rear sway bar, he sells the correct one for our Rivs. You'd benefit from the sway bars for racing too!
How much are Tom's boxes again? If I keep it through the fall, I might end up upgrading it to the point I don't want to let it go. And did you have to purchase the "Big Car" 9.5" unit or could you go with the smaller car one for cheaper?
Tom's boxes are $450 + $115 core charge but you get that back when you send him your old box then plus whatever shipping is from him to you. The rear sway bar he quoted me at $251.90 +shipping. I hear you john I've gone past the point of no return, I've got more in my car than I can get back out and I'm not even done the other engine, minor body work and repaint. This Riv is with me forever so I might aswell spoil it rotten. That being said there will be more toys in the future I'm just finishing this one first. My next project is a 37-47 Diamond T dually detroit diesel restorod. I sold my 58 B model mack project truck and other toys to get the Riv in the first place so I got this empty hole that I need to fill with a diesel rod.

Switch-pitch 2000/3000 stall(pretty much what you have) got me into the mid-11's with my '65 GS. Tom Wagner got his heavier '69 Wildcat into the mid 11's with a Poston 1500/4000 stall SP. Plenty of people have gone fast with them. Obviously your engine is not built as much and weighs more (1000 lbs maybe?) than my '65 but 12's with your setup is not out of the realm. Also, a SP trans does not work with a standard converter unless pump and front shaft are changed.
