I also posted this in the general forum, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of my full size Riv running 11.87 @ 114.43 this weekend with terrible air and wheel spin issues (1.726 60ft) which is a tenth slow in the 60' for me. corrected altitude was around 3800 ft with 88 degree temps and 72 to 91 % humidity until today when it started to rain.
We have a 1/4 mile track in Sabin Minnesota which is approx 11 miles from Fargo North Dakota and Moorhead Minnesota. The track was repaved 2 years ago and is in very nice shape. They have already had a couple of divisional events. Track record is something like 6.70 @ 217 mph. Don't quote me on that, I'm only going off of my very bad memory.
awesome go RIVIERA-THAT IS BAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD AAASSSSSS! RIVITUP DUDE-I ASPIRE TO BE THAT QUICK WITH MINE!-COREY MC. :3gears:
Great run mark I cant wait to seeyou run in October. Looks like those 600.00 valve springs work pretty good!!! :3gears: :spank: :TU:
Engine: .030" over 455 with TA forged pistons w/ valve reliefs. Ported Stage-1 heads, TA 1.65 roller rockers and valve train. PSI valve springs, TA roller cam, TA sp-1 intake, holley 1050 dominator. 9.44 to 1 compression, runs on 92 octane pump gas w/ 40* timing (locked out advance). Trans: TH-400 w/ 36 element intermidiate sprag, billet drum support, TCI full manual reverse pattern valve body, and custom built Coan converter $$$ Driveshaft: custom built duplicate of stock 2 piece unit using custom cages for the double cardan joints utilizing spicer solid cross shaft u-joints (5 total) Rear end: 100% stock 1969 3.42 posi from a Riv GS. Lower control arms are southside machine without the lift bar additions (I tore the stock lower control arms in half a few years ago) turns out Riviera lower arms and A-body lower arms are the same length. I'm having some wheelspin issues now with the new torque converter and am looking at going to a 9" ford with a centered pinion, 4.11 gears, and a 1 piece driveshaft. I will be using a custom built 3 link suspension for this w/ coil over shocks. Updates on this next year. I am used to running 1.62 60 ft times, so when you spin and run a 1.72 to 1.75 60 ft and still pick the car up that's pretty good in my book. my previous best e.t. was 11.98 at 112.22 mph in near ideal conditions (600-800 foot density altitude) and yesterday's 11.87 was at 3800 ft density altitude. imagine that pass with a 1.60 60 ft time. That would have been fun!
Haha, I thought I'd probably see you on these forums. I'm the one that came up and talked to you in the pits. He isn't exaggerating, folks, I saw him do it. :eek2:
I have to ask do you store your car at the fair grounds and have the vanity plates. I see that car every spring when I pick up my boat?
...If you're talking to me, no, you're thinking of a different car. Mine is currently at my parents house, and a very definite work in progress. There is a pretty nice 67 Wildcat convertible with the same color scheme as mine though, I've seen it around Fargo a few times.
Outrageous!! Congratulations Mark! That is inspiring. I'm finally beginning my build which will hopefully be together by the end of this year. I've waited far too long to get mine right. :beer Here's hoping I will be making a run like that soon. :TU:
pictures I had posted some pictures a while ago in "readers rides". I did a search in that forum under "mark dalquist" and it came up with the right thread. The number on the thread is 303838. I hope this helps. Thanks for the nice comments.
Thanks Mark, your car is beautiful. I remember seeing one very similar (without the hoodscoop) in bowling green in the early 90's, that Riv had Holley Projection or fuel injection of some sort (I think). It was a sweet ride too. Any chance that was yours? Anyways :TU:
Hey Mark, you still running that Riv on the street once in a while? :eek2: Mark gave me a fun little ride a couple summers ago... :bglasses:
I run Mickey Thompson 26x10.5x15 slicks at the race track and I switch between Mickey Thompson 275-50-15 drag radials and Yokohama 255-60-15 regular radials on the street. In the picture that was posted, I had Hoosier dirt track tires on the back. I got them for free and thought I'd try them. They worked pretty good actually. :Brow: Yes, Mr. Gramlow, I still drive it on the street quite a bit. I only drag race it at the track occasionally. I do run 92 octane pump gas in it and when I go to the race track, the slicks, air tank, jack & stands, tools, etc. all get loaded into the car and I drive it to the track because I don't own a pickup or a trailer. That's why I only race it at Interstate Dragways because anywhere else is too far if I break something.
