    Hi,

    what would be the problem?
when i turn the ke off ,the gen light stays on. :ball:
so,i have to disconnect the battery,so,it doesn't kill the battery.

When mine did that ,my voltage regulator was stuck. I just replaced it,problem solved.

when my 72 gs did that , the culprit was one of the wires attached to the alternator . removed , cleaned , reattached .
    okay .

The last possibiility would be a defective diode in the alternator. If one of these is shorted, it will act as a ground, illuminating the light. This is more for the late model alternators with a diode trio, but I am covering all of the bases, as I am not sure of the system you have. The 10 and 12 SI units had a problem with this, but not the 10 DN units, as the regulator disconnected these units from the system when the key was turned off.

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

I'd start with the $10 voltage regulator, assuming it still has the stock style on the firewall.
