It's expensive, but this guy relines them. Had a set done a while back. He also relines shoes with correct material. https://www.jgrelining.com/#!contact-us/coj3https://www.jgrelining.com/#!contact-us/coj3
Thanks for the info John but I have an iron replacement on one side I hope to replace the relining info is very useful tho. Thx again
I saw this a couple of weeks ago: https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/aluminum-brake-drums-new-and-used.370087/
It was definitely a sticker shock, but when I got the set done with my set of relined and arc'd shoes, it made my car stop as good as stock disc's (IMO). I also got a set of G body rear drums from him.
I might spring for it in the end - I'll already be underwater on the car, so if I have the spare $, what the heck. Last car I did, I had a used pair that had never been cut. Entire brake system was new (incl. NOS proportioning valve) and the car was light (low option GS 350 4-sp. - Same as my current project). I agree - IMHO, the car stopped as good as disks. It's the repeated hard stops where I guess the disks would be better but how often would that happen. PM sent
