I know that GM had problems with there carb. When they made replacement carb for these cars would they still have the round ID tag or did they role stamp some of them. I only ask because I found a carb that is roll stamped with 67 codes. It is identical to a 67 carb in every way that I can tell. I don't have the carb but have access to pics of it.

    Thanks for any info provided.

From 1965 thru early 1968 Quadrajets, both Rochester and Carter built will have a round tag on the drivers side of the main casting with the part number, Plant Code, and build date (letter/number for month/year). At some point they started roll stamping them in stead. At this point Rochester made units will have a Julian Date, Carter built still used the letter/number date for date.

Service Replacement Q-jets made later than the original years production run are roll stamped and may or may not have the Plant Code stamped on them, but they will be dated.

In the mid-1970's they started using different numbers for the Service Replacement carburetors. For example, 17054910 is a Service Replacement carburetor for 1973 and 1974 Pontiac 455 Super Duty engines with the automatic transmission, 17045911 for the manual trans engines......
