Yes, best of luck. My expert reference is Tom Mooney if you're looking for another opinion. He's on this board occasionally. I think he has two or three or maybe three or four Wildcat GSs, and bought my 66 GS Riv 2x4 a few years ago too. He knows those cars pretty much down to the nuts and bolts, as do a few others here. Sounds like a fine Riv you've got there too. Please share a pic when you can.
Missed it. Well, at least you know I'm still a fan. Is that Riv leaving your stable anytime soon? If so, let me know.
Sorry I quoted the wrong post. I meant the black 66GS Riv 2x4 car I sold to Mooney, the other Tom. And I can tell you that the owner previous to me and his wife would like it back too. We both made a mistake selling it. One of the cars that should never be sold. I think you'll do well with the other Riv GS too. But I meant the black one. I wouldn't mind getting yours back either, as a matter of fact. But not right now. And now back to the Wildcat GS thread. Sorry for the confusion. Two Toms that I sold Riviera GSs to. What are the odds? Both good guys too.
Sorry Mike but i don't see Tom comming off of it anytime soon.I learned never to say "NEVER" due to the fact that money talks and common sense has to kick in at some point.Mooney trolls around the V8 board so i sure he will see this and you'll get a reply or here or a PM. Tom
Tom has been giving me some good info and I hope he'll continue to nursemaid me until I get up to speed on the Wildcat (a car I know nothing about--I've been a '65 Riviera man all my life) I'll get a few shots of the Riv soon. The front clip has been off to detail everything. Now that it's all done, I'm slowly putting back together. My air cleaner (from my dad's '65 Riv) is out being rechromed.
The car was delivered yesterday morning. After having to push in into my garage becuase the shipper could not back into my driveway, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the car is better than expected. The floors are solid. All of the engine components are there (except the air cleaner). There is a thin coat of bondo on the rear quarter, but nothing a good body man can't fix. My biggest challenge is how to split my time between the Wildcat and the soon to be complete Riviera. So far, I've found front seats, a shorty center console, the hood ornament and check my stack of road wheels and discovered 4 '66 wheels that may not need to be replated. I expect to pull the motor out in a few weeks and have it rebuilt which will give me a chance to dismantle the front clip and start the tedious process of detailing the inner fenders and and engine bay. I've taken some pics, but need to find my cable to upload them. By the way, I have GS emblems on the grill, the dash, and the quarters. Should there be one on the trunk?
If Topcat's car is "correct", and I would certainly think it is, there should be a trunk emblem. Rick
Wow. I've been inspired. I've got some holes in the trunk lid for and emblem and this pic confirms what goes there. Thanks!
