Today after visiting a hole in the wall salvage yard.. he had 2 buicks in there
a 66 lesabre with a wildcat 375 motor and a 65 riviera with a 425 2x4 nailhead w/ clamshell headlights for sale ... both need major work but hes selling them for dirt cheap.. HERE in pasadena maryland. the lesabre looked like a nailhead design with the valve covers sitting almost dead on top and it had 400 badges but he was swearing it was a 340. i didnt argue nor did i want to make him ask for more $$ he wants 800 bux for the 4dr lesabre.
the riv defintely had a bigger 400-425 style nailhead but i was thinking the lesabre was the orig 400 nailhead and the riv hada 425- 430 or something like that.. not sure. it did have two carbs. if anyone is interested i can go get pics and post them if wanted. theyre only 5 miles away. engines are in decent shape for being salvage pieces.. he wanted $800 for the lesabre and the riv he was asking $2k because it runs.. riv has posi and the lesabre is a 4 door w/ peg leg.
he wants to sell both whole... he'd sell the eng/trans only from the lesabre if needed but the riv has to be complete sale because it runs.
Riv is cream color and the lesabre is a sky blue.
interior sux on lesabre and the riv interior is in great condition for resto..
both had some rust issues but nothing too major.. but then again its all a matter of perspective.... no welding required for the riv atleast from what i could see but the lesabre would need some major rusto-therapy.

The LeSabre has the 340 engine and should have the 400 trans. The 400 was an option designation. 66 and 67 only two years for that engine. The 375 designation was the torque rating. It was rated at 260 hp. $800 seems pretty steep. The Riv would be a 425 nailhead and with the two carbs is valuable especially if its complete, which it sounds like it is. Well worth the money for that one at $2K. The Gran Sport model all had the 425 dual four engine (Super Wildcat), while it was an option on the other big cars.

    Ask for Joe.

    P.s.
It has 14 inch wheels with buick wire wheel covers at the moment
But he had shown me the original rally wheels not in too bad of shape either.. the logos are foggy. he said he'd throw them in the deal.
they are exposed to the elements but he doused them in cutting oil to help save them ... he also has a brown vinyl cover bungeed over the riv to help aid in starving sun damage... That dash is in top notch condition.. so is the console. Seats arent too bad off either. esp the back.
the riv didnt have an aircleaner assembly on the eng but i think i heard him say it was in the trunk.. not sure :Do No:

He said the lesabre eng runs also just hasnt in over a year. so it needs some priming but he claims both engs are strong and tight.. :Do No:

the hood spear and ornament were perfect almost nos... chrome is in way better shape than the paint looks like someone even started cleaning her up some that guy Joe said he ran outa timeand intrest in restoring her .
I can tell he loves Buicks. Soon as i pulled up in my lark he was like " 1969 buick skylark wow is it a GS ?? " LOL i said " no but soon to be one" LOL
"Got any buicks?" he replies " a couple" LOL total good ole boy accent and all but real nice guy..
