66 gs trans 2speed or three speed????

    that is the question i got the trans with some other stuff just want to know something about it so i can list it correctly forsale it was on the back of a 401 and i was told it was out of a 66 gs ///////

    Pete,
    I believe that should be a 2 speed switch pitch trans.

    LARRY yes i thouhgt so too but some one said that the trans buick put in back of the 401 is a different one than the one behind the 300 so NOW im confused thought someone with a org 66 gs could help me out thanks larry later pete

    Pete, the Skylark GS used a ST300 2 speed trans, the other Buicks used a ST400 3 speed.
    You need to look at the pan, if it's relatively square, it's a 2 speed, if the shape looks more like the state of Texas, it's a ST400

    ...also if it's out of the vehicle just grab the shift lever or tab and see how many positions it has. 5 positions or four clicks it's a 2 speed, 6 positions or 5 clicks it's a 3 speed. Hope this makes sense :confused:
