well i got off early and ran out to our local older pick yard . luckily out of the few 66-67 's , one 4 door special still ahd them there and even more lucky the front tires were off . used a pick set and a pair of needle noses and took them for a reference . being original ,i took a few pics first to get an idea of position . i though i'd share them here . the pass was obscured by the a/c yet i got a clear shot of the drivers .

Where did you get new ones? Are these for sale. I bought repos for my 64 and I think they are wrong. I saw somebody made a set. I would like these if you think they will clean up or to use as a pattern. Thankd

Ed I'm ordering a set for my '65 but was wondering why the ones you have seem wrong and where you got them from if they are.
    Thanks for any info.

The splash shields for a '64-'65 are a piece of flat rubber with two long slits in it so that the center can bend out and lay on top of the control arm. The ones used on the '66-'67 models are a molded rubber like in the pictures above. If you order the repos for a '64-'65, they should be correct--I have ordered several sets over the years from Year One and they fit perfect.
Some of the '64-'65 cars have them stapled on, and some have some special square headed clips that hold them on. All of the '66-'67 variety I have ever seen have them stapled on.

The '64-'65 set is common for all the GM A-body cars, and some of the models came with a piece on each side that seals off the area between the bottom edge of the fender well and the top of the frame from the A-arm up to the core support. If you look, there are 3 holes along the bottom edge of the fender well for the clips to snap into for that piece on each side. I have never seen a Buick with them in there from the factory, but I put them in my cars because it is extra protection from dirt/water flying into the engine bay off of the tires. Once you get them in your hand, it will be very obvious where those other pieces go if you want to use them.

Looking at that ebay auction(the pics)...versus the original ones in the posted pics....the originals are held on with staples and the ebay ones look like they use push pins (see the larger round holes in the ebay versions)....for you guys not wanting to drill larger holes in your metal wells or going for originality that might be a concern.

All of the '64-'67 cars have the larger holes in the fender wells for the square head push pins. Most of the factories stapled them on instead though. The stapler made its own holes when they put them on at the factory.

all 66-67's and later i've ever seen were stapled . as gm randomly threw them wherever the guy working that day felt like putting them . i had some that were very odd , as i did redrill a couple to more my liking

Put new ones on my old 67 but used black washer head self tapping screws to attach. Maybe not concours correct bit a lot easier and neater looking I thought. Shortened the screws with a grinder after the initial installation
by taking them out and reinstalling so they didn't stick out so far on the underside.
