I have a 1965 Buick Skylark. My Carb Cover reads 355 Wildcat. Can anyone telll me what that means for my engine specs? Also where can i find performance headers and manifolds for my engine. The 300 V-8?

Torque in foot lbs for the 4 barrel 300 cid engine. If it were a 401 cid it would read 445, for a 425 cid, 465 etc.

    RE:355 wildcat.

How come all of my spec. findings has led me to belive that my V8 - 300. 4-Barelle shoots out 250hp@4800 rpm and 335t@3000 rpm. Why does buick rate their engins in that format? Ex. 355 Wildcat or 310 wildcat

I will answer that with a question. Why would you rely on hp only to rate an engine to the exclusion of torque. A high torque but relatively lower hp engine in an auto may outrun the higher peak hp lesser torque engine every time (or some of the time or most or the time depending on the set up.)

A good example is the mopar 426 hemi versus the 455 cid Buick. In race trim generally the hemi will make more hp but may still lose in the quarter mile. Much of that has to do I submit with the relative areas under a torque versus hp curve. This area under the curves reflects the total torque and total hp made over an rpm range. Over a quarter that will translate into top end and how fast you accelerate up to speed over a quarter.

I think you may be falling into the trap of thinking the higher peak hp engine will signal the winner when the relative torque characteristics may determine the outcome.
