65 Skylark Rear Coil Spring (s) Installed Height

    Anyone know what the installed height measurement is for the stock rear springs? Couldn't find it last night, looking on line and in both the books I have.

    Three days, 42 looks, and no input - man this one is gona be tough to figure out! I would have thought for sure that someone would know the answer to this question? Guess I'll just have to wit it out!

    Never heard of installed height as it relates to suspension coil springs. It will depend on the spring rate and car weight. Correct trim height should be in the 65 Buick Chassis manual. What exactly are trying to figure out? Maybe restating the question a different way will get you some input.

    I'm looking at it from any angle I can, in order to ascertain as much info as I can get. I've done a couple of day's worth of research on spring rate and coil diameter, the constant rate spring vs the variable rate springs too. So, honestly, I'm looking for any and all info I can get!

    Not sure how much it will help but I put BMR lowering strings on mine. It measured 21.75 and 20.75 at the rear fenders prior to the springs. After installing the 2"drop springs I'm at 20.5" height on both sides. I do have 17" wheeled but tire height is about 26"

    Thanks for the input, there are some really good spring manufacturers and they make some great kits, BMR and Hotchkis (spelling?), are two of the most utilized makers, can't afford to air bag or air ride it (still have the two youngest in college!), DSE makes some great front and rear suspension kits, but not while the kids are still in school! Again, great info thanks for putting it out here!

    I'm sure my stock springs were worn well beyond their service life, hence the discrepency between left/right. It
    also would explain why it didnt drop it exactly 2". For shocks I'm running a stock type replacement, nothing high dollar.

    I makes sense to me! I am pretty sure that the springs on mine came original to the car and mostly shot as well. Were your upper spring isolators the cup kind or the normal spiral type?

    I have to do shocks as well, which I figure I should just do it all at the same time.

    I haven't used the cup type, the spiral ones are the ones I've always seen and used. I'll have to do some research on those and see what the deal is. Thanks for the info!!
