Hello Michael... WELCOME to the Buick V8 forum Mr Newbie! :)

I have two Buick tachometers being cleaned & calibrated this week. ONE will be for sale when they come back.

$395 outright shipped & heavily insured to any lower 48.

    OR,

$375 EXCHANGE for your tri shield insert IF its not cracked, chipped or paint peeling off the backside, and you are responsible to pay shipping it to me FIRST so I can verify the overall condition.

    OR,

add another $29.95 and send me your complete cup/housing with insert and I will assemble the new tach into your housing so all you have to do its install itl!!!

LOTS of choices..ALL of them GOOD!

wheelz - i definitely want that tach when its ready - i took a look at the center console this weekend, is the tach cup a separate piece or is it part of the whole center console assy? also, how does that whole center console come apart? i see two screws when i open the console lid, but thats it. let me know if you have any info on that.

    thanks a ton!!

Michael... You will need to remove the console from the car floor to get to the CUP from the inside. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO remove the console from the floor?

Once you have access to the underside of the console, you will see the tach housing/cup, has two nuts attaching the assembly to the console. When you remove those two nuts, the cup kinda "lifts out".

Lemono if I can help you with CONSOLE removal if so needed!

    Thanks Wheelz!!

i looked at the console last night, and i only see 2 screws to take out where the console lid opens - is that all there is? or am i missing something for getting the whole console out?

thanks so much for your help!

    Michael... hereya go;

1.) Unthread the shift knob. (sometimes these are pretty tight..DO NOT USE channel lox, or plyers or pipe wrenches as these will easily mess up a rather nice chrome knob! SO,. . .if your Wife or GF has handy rubber-non-slip kitchen type bottle openers, those work very well.) ..once the shift knob is off....
2.) Push the little 'button' found down on the lower right side slot, where the shifter chrome shaft pokes thru the centerpiece...(note; look at the pix of just the console body below very closely, you MAY SPOT that little button, just to the RIGHT of THE center, along the bottom EDGE OF WHERE THE SHIFTER INDICATOR CHROME CENTERPIECE was.... SEE IT??) :Brow:
3.) While pushing that little 'button' in, lift out the chrome shifter indicator unit as a whole and slide it up the shifter shaft to get it out of your way.

4.) You will then see TWO PHILLIPS HEAD screws attaching the console to the shifter assembly.

5.) Remove those two screws AND the two you already found inside the storage comprartment and VOILA... the console should lift out.

6.) IF you have a console harness, unsnap the connector.

The attached pix may help you out...but if not, just lemono!

Here's a little better shot of the "button". Visable along the back edge of where the shifter indicator plate fits...
Perhaps you can ZOOM IN on that area and see it easier.? (DID YOU KNOW. . .click on the pix below, and once opened, if you hold the CTRL button on your computer while clicking on the '+' key, your computer should zoom in for you...)

I would provide better pix ONLY IF..the 65-67 consoles I have, were here and not 2 hours north in a warehouse. :Dou:
