Hello, can anybody help me? I need motor mounts for my 65 skylark gs. I bought mounts on ebay but they are for a 401 LeSabre-they won't work. Who is making them? Does anybody know the correct part number? Help! Thanks, Steve
I don't think anyone is making them. You have to send them off to be re-made with new rubber using your old ones for a core. It isn't very expensive. I know Year One has a rebuilding service, but they probably have a pretty hefty markup on it.
If you have no cores let me know. I have successfully reproduced these from scratch but have not moved ahead with making them in quantity since I don't think the demand is there to justify my effort, but I do have some leftover parts and could make a set for you. Pat
I saved this pic, and cant remember where it came from. The post outlined how to mod the chevy mm to fit the Nail adapters. Plus theyre like eleven bucks a pair! -A
Yes Andrew!, that pic is from this board .....about a year ago. The stock GS is on the left, and the 3 bolt Chevy mount is on the right. Some of the holes need to be elongated, and you might need to shim the height 1/8" or so. They could be made to work if you absolutely cannot find originals.
The cheby mounts do work. The top holes need to be elongated slightly & you need to drill & tap the bottom hole in your original mounting plate. In no way will it weaken the plate & when you find a pair of original mounts can put them on because there were no other mods to the original mounting than a drilled & tapped hole.
