Rich, that is my dream car! Or, a late model 3800 SC in there. Been daydreaming about it for years. Will you also put in a dual master cylinder? A worthy safety upgrade, esp since your car will be "a little" faster than average. FYI, did one in my '65 Sportwagon, used a master from a '67 Impala, works great and not too tough/costly. Please post performance numbers when you get them, including MPG!!
Scratch my dual master question, I see it there in the later pics; had only paid attention to the earlier underhood pic before.
Glad you like it. If you look closely and compare the pics before and after the grill went on, you will see that the brakes have been upgraded. Those old drums were just a bit scary. I put manual Baer serious streets on the front a few weeks back. Huge improvement. Right now, with no upgrades except for the converter and only 12lbs of boost the car is running 13.4 on the g-tech. I plan on doing the typical GN bolt on upgrades and see how deep into the 11's I can get.
I would have guessed the opposite, not knowing the weight of either.Which I do not. That's interesting. My power drums were "just a bit scary" on my GS Rich...LOL! I have a feeling, she's going to be a holy terror to a lot of non Buicks :beer
It looks great Rich. And I know you will have lots of fun showing those beautiful full length tail lights to anybody that messes with you. Now all you need is one of those " I BRAKE FOR CORVETTES" bumper stickers!! :beers2:
I agree on the brakes! Mine has Wilwoods after almost taking out a deer at 50 mph; scary! I built my stage-2 455 car with a similar style in mind. I have collected some but not all of the parts to put a classic FAST on it. The fuel tank has turned into one of the challenges. Would you mind posting a pic of the fuel tank? The stockers are so shallow I am curious how it was built to acommodate the pump. Don't forget the gray-haired wig, glasses and pink mumu when you go looking for a kill, :TU:
Real nice Rich. Being the owner of an 87 Turbo T I know what a beast that engine is. Is it stock or have you done some tweeking?
Rich, The car turned out awesome! I'm glad I got to be a part of the project. I ended up finishing the wiring harness here in Detroit after driving out to visit Eric two Summer's ago. I'm the one who sank the boost gauge into your dash! I hope you didn't mind me hacking it up! This was such a solid car and an awesome canvas to start from: An original Fireball 225 V6 car that had like no options! I'd put some stock looking steel wheels and original full hubcaps on her and have a Korean War vet drive her looking for races! Dave Buckshaw
Great project!! I love the combo, best of both worlds............power and gas mileage. The car is CLEAN!
When you get tired of this car, please let me know..... Do you have gas mileage and recent performance figures to share with us? Thanks in advance, Steve in Mpls.
