    Hey everyone,

I have for sale my 1965 skylark.

First off, This is not a show car, but a driver car and would be a great restoration project, if one desired to.

I have owned this car since June 2009. I bought it off previous owner from Nebraska, where it spent three years. Prior to that, it was in California. The car has never seen snow with me, nor did the previous owner drive it in the snow. I have been caught in the rain a few times, and I had no problems at all.

The car is originally a California car.

    Body:
Repainted but I’m not sure when, or by who. It wasn’t by the previous owner. The paint would be considered a 10-15 footer I’d say. The door jams were not painted, so their original color, which was white. It looks as if it was a cheap paint job, since the paint has chipped and you can see the white on the wheel wells at spots. Also, there is some bubbling but they are on the driver side between the back glass and side glass. Which is the size of a penny. The passenger side has it too, but arent as big. Also the passenger very lower quarter panel needs attention, it looks like if someone put bondo down. It isn’t rusted through the trunk, or is it soft, but is wavy.

The back bumper has a dent above where the license plate is, but not cracks.

The floor board is rust free! The bubbles in the paint dont seem to be full blown rust. I believe the car was obviously prepped poorly.

    Engine:
I have the numbers matching engine, but has been disassembled to the short block. Has some minor rust in the cylinder, which would be cleaned up very easily if you ball honed then platoon them. If you did rebuild this engine, you’d want to bore it.

The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner. He told me it has been bored, but not sure how far. With new pistons, rings, bearings. A 110 cam with new valve springs and lifters. The engine is strong and doesn’t make any noise. I don’t have any paper work with this engine. So I cant 100% prove all this, since I haven’t torn down the engine.

The engine does leak oil, but it’s from the front cover gasket. Since I didn’t drive this car much, and originally had plans to have a 455, I never cared to fix it.

    Transmission:
The previous owner installed a Muncie 20 from a 65 model car, has a Hurst shifter and shifts smoothly and really fun to drive. It has the correct floor shift, steering column and correct 65 pedals. The Z bar and all linkage is correct too. The clutch could use some adjustment, since it starts grabbing when the pedal is almost all the way out.

    Interior:
The interior of the car is good. The front seats are not original. Previous owner bought them and got them stitched. The rear seats have a little at the top where the sun has baked them. The four speed console is a driver piece, the tach does work and lights up perfectly.

The driver door panel, has a little rip in the front at the bottom.

Things that need to be addressed:
The power brakes can be very touchy at times, when I get in it for the first time, I sometimes forget and it will lock up and through you forward. There’s times they’re fine but others, will be touchy.

The windshield wiper fluid spray doesn’t work.

The oil leak from front cover gasket.

The heater core leaks also. I found this out when I was driving at 80 mph and saw it coming down the floor board inside on the passenger side. I just rerouted the hose.

The radio does not work. The previous owner had a cd player installed, but took it out when I bought the car. The speaker in the dash is gone also.

The car has a vacuum power release trunk, power brakes, power steering. Remote driver side mirror.

Like stated this car is a perfect driver and is a real joy to drive. Would be a wonderful project if someone had the time, money and desire to. My main idea for the car would be, put a BBB, a rear end with 4:10 gears and redo some other things. Mainly have another street/strip car.

I have more photos of the car and can post them later.

I feel the way I have described the car, is it may read to be worse then it is, but I dont like hiding things....

I'm ready to get rid of the car, so dont hesitate to ask anything.

Also, there is a lien on the car, sadly enough.

    Location is: Topeka, KS
    Mileage is 79,300.

    Price: $4,000 bottom dollar!!!

Quite the car for the money.
A little tinkering, some fresh paint to address the bubbling, some correct vintage buckets and you have one heck of an awesome car.

Good luck with the sale. Looks like a very nice deal to me.

Almost tempting but not space or need for another one at the moment.

I've seen this car in person a couple years back. It's in decent driver condition.

Can't begin to tell you how much I would love that car for the price.
    Bad time for me though.

It's a steal for someone. The only way to improve on a 65 four speed is if it were a gran sport or if the top went down.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

Im ready to sell the car, im needing space in the garage for another car.

I'm willing to deliver the car also, itd be no problem.

It seems like its not a good time to sell a car.

Like ive stated, OBO is not posted for fun. I Also am willing to take partial trade on either stage 2 BBB or turbo 6 parts. All depends on what it is.

Man your killing me!! Even with shipping that would be a good deal on an awesome car! 65 4 speed hardtop. The only thing better would be if it came from the factory with a 401 in it!!
