I just put 2" drop spindles and a front disc brake kit on my 65 coupe with a fresh 455 . Unfortunately with 17" Torque Thrusts,45 series tires and brand new GS 401 springs it sits too low. Anybody have any suspension ideas on how to get it up higher about an inch ? I really dont want to have to change the springs out. What are my options ? Thanks J.

You could put a 1" spacer on top of the spring, but that might throw off your front end geometry. And with those new springs in there already, I'd be willing to bet she's already sitting up high where the suspension geometry is concerned. You need to be somewhere in the ballpark or else a good wheel alignment will not be possible and you will have handling and tire wear issues.

Do they make 1" drop spindles? That may be your best option. And keep in mind, when those springs settle she may sit even lower, possibly as much as 1/2".

I agree its going to go lower. I am really afraid that when I get the hood back on and a few people inside its going to rub big time....I may have to go to a 15" rim instead of the current 17" and get "maybe" an inch more clearance that way. What I am wondering is a few things about coil over shocks...do they make and can you run a "skinny" adjustable coil over shock inside a standard spring and adjust it to get you the higher ride height ? Do they have a gas charged shock for like a load leveler type application that adds height ? Those 401 springs were really tight to get in there - a arm fully extended down -to get it in ....I dont think getting a taller spring or helper spacer in there is possible by me in my driveway. The heavy duty 401 spring was 1 full coil taller than the drop spring that was previously in there.
