    Howdy,

I'm visualizing my project car, a '65 Riviera with a modded up Turbo 6 and TH200-4R in it. While I want to make is look sinister like a GN I do like the chrome and flair that makes the 1st Gen Riv's so attractive. I want to go to better rolling stock so I've narrowed it down to either 16x8 Torq-Thrust D's with grey centers or taking the stock wheels and having them "biggerized" by Stockton or equivilent to 16x8 then getting them chromed and the black centers black chromed. While I can try tonight to put together some photoshop pictures of the two different options, I'm not sure how accurate I can make the black chrome area. Oh and they both cost about the same so that's not much of a deciding factor.

    Thanks,

Better change that POLL and add something like: stay with the 15's :TU:

What color is the Riv going to be?

All Black, I guess I should have put that in here to begin with. Oh and no I won't keep the 15's, the side walls are too rediculous. With a 16x8 I can get a 245/50 R16 that is almost identical to the stock Grand National 215/65 R15 which is what the speedo gear is calibrated for, though I'm probably going to have to change it when I put in the Ford 9" with its 3.50 gears.

Thanks for the feed back though,

    Can't do 16" Buick wheels

I called around a while ago to WV, Stockton, etc, and nobody was willing to do a 16" wheel with a Buick center. If you can do it, though, the Buick wheelo is the choice. If you can't, the TTD's are very nice.

I got a quote somewhere for I think stockton to widen and enlarge a set of Buick roadwheels to 16x8, chrome and powder coat them for $225 a peice, now if I have them delievered finished but raw and take them to the local chromer for the black and shiny treatment it will probably end up costing about the same, TTD's are $195 I think from the only place I see with a 16x8 5x5 wheel, but thats a pretty good price none the less.

I have seen the first gen. Rivs with Torque Thrust 2's and liked them. They were all polished, but I prefer the grey center ones like you mentioned. I am not a stock wheel person unless you plan on an original show car. I think bigger, more modern wheels look better and I know they handle better than those tall 75 series tires. IMHO

An attempt at big stockers but I can't get the black chrome effect so I just left it in the stock finish.

Yep, your speedo will be off a wee bit, hardly noticeable.

    215/65/15 stands for:

21.5 cm width tyre, the hight of the tyre wall is 65% of 21.5 cm = 13.97 cm
    Rim diameter = 15 inches = 38.1 cm

    Total wheel hight is 2 x 13.97 = 27.94 cm + 38.1 cm = 66.05 cm = 26 inches

    245/50/16 stands for:

24.5 cm width tyre, the hight of the tyre wall is 50% of 24.5 cm = 12.25 cm
    Rim diameter = 16 inches = 40.64 cm

    Total wheel hight is 2 x 12.25 = 24.5 cm + 40.64 cm = 65.14 cm = 25.64 inches

Pics do mean a bunch! After seeing the 2 different wheels on your car, I have changed my mind. I like the bigger Buick-type wheels. They work well with the chrome strip on the bottom of the car.
