65 Riviera GS

  1. Just would like to get some input on this..... On my way to work one day I noticed a Riviera sitting in someones back yard so a few days later I decided to stop. I checked it out and it is a 65 GS 425 dual quad motor complete. It has a complete and really nice shape woodgrain wheel too. That is about all that is good on the car. The body is shot full of rust. I am only looking to get the drivetrain out of it for my 63 Riv. He said it ran good but hasnt been run in a long time. I dont know how long. If I get it I would have both motor and trans rebuilt anyway. What do you think this car is worth. I offered him 1500. for it. Just would like to know what everyone else thinks....

    dualqwad ...just another lost soul

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but here is what I think...
It would be hard to say without seeing it but $1500 sounds like a real bargain.
If the guy is the least bit clued in then he should know that what is sitting on top of that motor is probably worth what you offered him, maybe more.
If you are lucky enough to get it at that price and do part it out then sell me that steering wheel, OK? :beer

  3. Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. It is sitting beside a garage on a farm so he probably doesnt know its value. I recently saw a 65 Riv GS on ebay without a title and a single carb go for 3grand. The owner of the car doesnt live close, it is beeing stored at his sisters house where I saw it around the corner from me. I just talked to him on the phone and he said he would come down here to meet up with me next weekend. I will definately keep you in mind and post updated info if and when I do get the car.
