65 GS--should it have triangular washer fluid bottle?

When I got my 65 Skylark GS it did not have the triangular bottle and bracket for extra washer fluid on it. With the battery on the drivers side, it will not fit in the same location as it goes on the regular Skylarks. My car was one of the early cars (built in Jan 65), so I was wondering if maybe it did not have one and the later cars did. This car is all original as far as sheetmetal goes and I can find no evidence where one was ever mounted on the inner fender on either side. Also there are no predrilled holes that line up with any of the holes in the triangular bottle bracket.
My car does have the odd shaped plastic washer fluid resivour container mounted to the drivers side inner fender up underneath the outter fender. Just clarifying that the actual resivour is not what I am refering to.
So does anyone know if the 65 GS is supposed to have the triangluar glass bottle/bracket or not? If so, where does it mount and did it come on all or just some of the cars? My car has factory AC on it if that matters one way or the other.

    Brian,
My 65 GS came had the mounting bracket on the right fender close to and below the A/C hoses. The bracket is there but the bottle was missing.

Does anyone have a picture of where the triangluar bottle is mounted on their car? I would like to see a good shot so I know exactly where it is supposed to go.
George, I do not have a set of 66 skylark door panels. I do have a good set for a 66 Special--they will fit your car, but look completely different since the base model special interior was different than the skylark.

    Hi Brian
There should be a picture of the bottle mounting in the shop manual. Buick GM stopped installing the triangular glass concentrate bottles late in 1965 or early in 66. If you can look very close at your inner fender you will find two very small dimples, this is where the bracket was mounted, you will have to drill the two holes. to mount the bracket.
If you want the bottle and bracket, I have plenty of original bottles , brackets, repro labels, and caps.
The bottles were sold as a dealer accessorie until 1969.

That is the thing--I cannot find any dimples or anything on the inner fender on the passenger side. I also have not seen the page in the manuals that you are referring to--which page in which shop manual is it?
Both my 64 skylark and 66 skylark came from the factory with them mounted on the inner fender on the drivers side just behind the horns.
My 65 GS was one of the very early production models (3rd week of Jan 65), so I have found a few differences in it compared to the other ones I have seen.

I don't have a good picture at this time but will try to get one today. The picture I have shows the top of the triangualr bottle top sticking up. I've just got to figure how to attach it. Or give me your email address and I'll send direct.

I really cannot have you email me the picture right now. I am out of the country on business and using other peoples computers to get to the internet, so right now my mailbox is almost full with some other pictures I have been sent and I cannot detach anything until I get back home this weekend on my own computer!
To attach to this website, just click on "post reply", then at the bottom of the reply screen is a button to click for "attach", then just browse for the file and it will lead you through it from there.

My 65 conv. was built the first week of feb. and has the bottle and bracket mounted to the right fender well. It is possible that they didn't have the brackets when your GS was built.

I have looked thru my copy of the GS service manual, but no picture of the location for the bracket is shown. Also checked the "
preliminary tech. facts booklet" that was put out before the regular service manual was printed. again no picture.

As the GS was a mid year introduction there probably is not any location dimples on the fender well.

Hope this casts a little light on the subject.

    Hi Brian
I found a picture of the triangular glass bottle mounting. Found it in a parts book, showing the bottle mounted on the front of the core support, just behind the grille. same side a the plastic resivor
    jug.
When I can get the p[age out of the book will post here, for anyone interested.

Here is picture from parts book. Diagram is for 1965-65 Special and skylark.
Bottle is mounted on drivers side, hard to figure out if it is in front of core support or on fender well.

    optional or standard

these where optional in 67, where they standard on the 65"s? If not that would answer why his doesn't have one.

I think that drawing you posted is for the regular skylark. The bottle won't physically fit behind the grille, and if that picture is showing it to go on the inner fender well just behind the core support, it won't fit there either on a GS because the GS has the battery on the drivers side of the car. The Special/Skylark has the battery on the passenger side.

Your right. Forgot about battery location. Diagram is for spec/sky.
This is the only picture of bottle i could locate. The bottles were elimated from production lines in early 66, but remained a dealer installed item until 1969.
One article I did find was that the bottle should be located as close to the resivor tank as possible
