I wouldn't mind trading my 65 GS convertible 4 speed project toward a coupe....preferably 4 speed, big block, 64-65 but I also like the 66-67's and 70-72's. Looking for something that's all together and not a huge project, doesn't have to be numbers matching or original.

PM me or e-mail me mcstarch@comcast.net about my car but note: I'm going out of town until Saturday so if I don't get back to you right away that's why.

My car is in Dover, New Hampshire...can't say 100% that's a GS but it is at least a 4-speed convt and it has an LR code 401 in it with dual quads.

    Project Pix

Here are some pix of this project as it stands. Did some body work on the new fenders today. Here's a pic of one of the original GS factory fenders. Unfortunately the doors, frame and fenders were all rotted. I have replacements as you'll see in the pix, all in various stages of restoration.

I'm really not interested in parting this stuff out, I want to either finish the project or trade the whole enchilada toward a 4 speed hardtop.

In these pix you can see one of the original fenders with the verde green paint visible between the portholes. The next pic is the factory 4 speed floor stamping. Unfortunately someone enlarged it for a hurst shifter but you can see it's factory.

Oddly enough, the floors are in good shape, strange consider how bad the original doors and fenders are.

Here are pix of the floor. I have since removed the seats and will send them out to redone soon.

Here's the GS code stamping in the block of the nailhead, the dual quad setup and the new quarters which are sitting in primer, they need a little body work but aren't too bad. Also, here are the convertible frames I have, the old one in the rear is pretty badly rotted but the one in front is a clean I got from a guy in Florida. The car is currently sitting on an open Skylark frame.

Jon. . .there is a local fello who has, in his garage, a nice 65 GS coupe. . .buckets, 401, auto, a/c, console, been stripped and repainted blue with a new black vinyl top some years back, and sits unfinished. He's been after me to buy it from him for a few years. I know its safe in his garage and as soon as I buy it, then I'll have to find storage. . .however, your post intrigued me. I too, have a 65GS vert 4 speed with A/C needing a full resto. Email me direct at PenWheelz@ij.net if ya want to talk about a deal in the making! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
BTW that frame you bought for some Florida guy, was from Ted McKinney by chance??

I would like to get $9,000 or best offer for the whole project and all the extras. This would include: (Not interested in parting it out, sorry)

Real, numbers matching 65 4 speed convertible GS and LR Code 401 nailhead with dual quad setup. Body needs attention. Floors are solid but some rot on the lower cowl/front edge of rocker, holes in trunk, some rot on the bracing on the underside. Factory 4 speed stamping is there though the hole was enlarged on side to accomodate a hurst shifter. Motor runs, car rolls, all suspension, wheels and original posi go with it.

3 frames: 1 open which the car is on now, 2 convertible frames, one is rusty, the other is solid. (yes the good frame came from Ted McKenney)

Muncie 4-speed is in the car-not original.

Fresh convertible quarters-both sides. Need some body work around the inner lip but these are full length convtquarters in great shape overall.

Original sheet metal (pretty rusty) GS-fenders, doors, radiator support, wheel wells, all original verde green matching the body. (all supports that this is a real GS)

Skylark sheet metal-doors (rusty but usable) Fenders-rusty, quite a bit of filler.

New GS fenders-these are Skylark fenders with GS portholes cut in-body work done, sitting in primer.

Clean wheel wells siting in primer.

Various parts: power brake booster & MS, 4 speed console, door & window components, chrome GS "portholes" manuals, exploded diagrams on CD-R, etc....

e-mail me at mcstarch@comcast.net with questions or if you want pix.

    Thanks,

    Jon

well Jon. . . The local fello here with the 65 GS hardtop, I think he's ready to sit and talk deal. Now, I unnerstand you really want a 4 speed. . . .my Vert is a factory 4 speed. . . .I was just thinking about the possibility of swapping/installing my 4 speed stuff into that GS coupe for YOU. . .but then, well uh, me thinx you and I should take this "off-line". :Comp: Wheelz, Tampa Bay PenWheelz@ij.net
