Do you need a whole exhaust system, or just the tailpipes?? I don't quite understand.

The i.d. (inside diameter) of the pipes should be complimetary to your engine setup...huge pipes can hurt performance inside of enhance it

I just wanted some loud pipes on the car. Like flowmasters or glasspacks.

Well, is it loud pipes, or mufflers you want? I know some folks call an entire exhaust system 'pipes'. If you want loud head and tail pipes, I'm gonna have to say I don't know where to start on resonance frequencies of various metals, diameters, and wall thickness, welded or unwelded pipes, and things of that nature, but if you just want the exhaust to sound mean, there are many choices in mufflers. Glass packs are an old-timey type of solution that doesn't really help performance. Those are mufflers, not head pipes, by the way, at least around here. Maybe different areas call them different things.

My suggestion would be to go to a good custom exhaust shop and talk to them. Go to some place where you see old hot rods and muscle cars in the bays and in the lot. Talk to them, and they will give you more info on exhaust systems and muffler/pipe/engine combos that you can shake a stick at.

Not knowing your engine and what you've done to it, I can't really say go this way or that way. I hesistate to say, "buy this muffler, it's loud" because the muffler may indeed give your car a throaty growl, but you might end up disappointed performance-wise because the car lost a step and I don't want to give you advice that will take performance away from the car. It's more complex that just getting the most free flowing muffler and the biggest exhaust pipes you can find. Buying mufflers just for the sound is so far from my take on these cars that I really can't give you a straight answer, I really don't know, performance has always won out over a mean sound for me. I just got some dynomax welded mufflers on a 2.5" exhaust and it's not the loudest thing on earth, in fact it sounds quiet at idle, and I have fairly large tubular headers. Some good things will actually quiet the exhaust, like a cross-over pipe.

One thing I will say is get full welded mufflers. I blew three stock type ARVN mufflers out in 4 years with the crummy pinched type. Never again.

Thank you I will do that as soon as I get the plates renewed. You have been a great help.
